A Distinguished Legacy
Jenna Jaska ’22 of Sherman, Texas, has an Austin College heritage that goes back to the late 1930s when her great grandparents- to-be, Joyce Wilson and Forrest Bryant, enrolled. They graduated in 1941, married one another, and Forrest Bryant became a legendary Austin College professor of biology. An Austin College Distinguished Alumnus, he set a high standard for the 16 family members who would eventually follow him to the College. Jenna’s grandfather Tim Bryant ’70 is a graduate, as are her parents, Joe ’88 and Amy Bryant Jaska ’91, all pictured with Jenna and President Steven O’Day at Opening of School. The older generations were basketball athletes, and Jenna hopes to continue the sports legacy in softball. Her grandparents established a scholarship in memory of Forrest and Joyce Bryant, so the reach extends beyond family to students who benefit from that scholarship. Jenna is thankful to carry on the family tradition. Also pictured here are other members of the Class of 2022 who have alumni parent(s) and came for photos during Opening of School. Some were unable to attend; several students have legacy connections through siblings and other family members. See photos of Legacy Students 2018.
