Alpha Delta Chi sorority observed its 85th anniversary at Homecoming with alumnae and current members enjoying events from tailgating in the Kramer Outback, to their traditional Root Beer and Pretzel party, to a reunion celebration. The weekend offered many memories and sparked many “remember when” conversations. Longtime sponsors Dr. Hank Gorman, Professor of Psychology, and Dr. E. Don Williams, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, were on hand for the fun. Dr. Peter Schulze, another Alpha sponsor and Professor of Environmental Studies, and other members of the Environmental Studies Department cooked breakfast for the Alphas and guests on Sunday morning at the College’s Sneed Environmental Research Area to mark a 20-year partnership between Sneed and the Alphas. The women have made Sneed their service project since Brandy Lee Harmon Meierhofer ’99, recognized at the event, introduced the Sneed involvement as a student.
To mark this significant milestone of the sorority’s founding, alumnae led by trustee Sarah Gunderson ’81 established the 85th Anniversary Alpha Delta Chi Endowed Scholarship. By Homecoming, they had raised more than $75,000 of their $100,000 goal. Scholarships will be awarded each spring to a rising sophomore, junior, and senior Alpha Delta Chi member.
