Alumna Author Featured at Austin Book Talk
Alyssa Banta ’90 will share images and stories about her recent book, The Texas Ranch Sisterhood, on November 23 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at an Austin College Women Get Connected event in Austin, Texas, co-sponsored by the Austin College Alumni Board.
The event will be held at La Pena, 227 Congress Avenue in Austin. Tickets are $20 for the event where hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served.
Photojournalist Banta spent more over a year following more than a dozen Texas women through their daily ranch work, from the confines of the cattle chute to the open range of back pasture. The book, published by The History Press in October 2019, gives an intimate portrait of the challenges and achievements of the ranch women of Texas, along with the land and livestock that sustain them.
