The Austin College women’s swimming and diving team was named a spring 2011 Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The honor recognizes the team’s outstanding collective performance in the classroom.
Scholar All-America Team status is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The ’Roos were one of four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams to earn the honor for 2011, with a team GPA of 3.22 for the spring term.
Austin College men’s basketball player Josh Saunders ’12 was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court in July. In order to achieve this honor, players must be a junior or senior and maintain a grade-point-average of 3.2 or higher during the entire academic year.
Saunders, an environmental studies major from Athens, Texas, was one of 14 SCAC players to earn the honor this year. In addition to his outstanding performance in the classroom, Saunders also was an All-SCAC selection last season.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes players from all across the country in NCAA Division I, II, and III and NAIA.
