In Memoriam: Paul Leslie Thomas

Paul ThomasThe Austin College community is saddened to learn quite belatedly of the death of Dr. Paul L. Thomas, professor emeritus of psychology. He died September 16, 2019, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was 90 years old.

Dr. Thomas joined the Austin College faculty in fall 1963. He also served as registrar of the College, retiring from that position in 1992. From 1992 to 1996, he served as assistant dean of the faculty under Dr. David Jordan, and as professor of psychology.

During his years with the College, he served in a number of additional roles, including campus coordinator for the Institute of European Studies.

Dr. Paul Leslie Thomas of Fredericksburg passed away on Monday September 16, 2019 at the age of 90. He was born on October 4, 1928 in Phoenix, Arizona to C.W.  and Grace Padget Thomas. He married Betty Frances Cheves on July 15, 1958 in Amarillo TX.  Dr. Thomas was a college Professor.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Frances Thomas. He is preceded in death by his Parents C.W. and Grace Thomas.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Fredericksburg. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 in the First Baptist Church, Fredericksburg with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Brad O’Quinn, Jack O’Quinn, Pat O’Quinn, Scott Mills. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Johnston, David Cooper, Lloyd Flint, John Davis and Bill Marker.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Building Fund or charity of choice.
