Facing Skyward: Summer 2018 physics research students Tom Yuan ’19, Emma Page ’20, and Chloe Schnaible ’21 enjoy the sunset drama from the IDEA Center’s observatory rooftop deck. Under the guidance of Dr. David Baker, Physics Department Chair and Director of Adams Observatory, the students recorded video images of Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn through the observatory’s 24-inch telescope. Multiple frames were then processed through the observatory’s computers to digitally combine and sharpen the distinctive features of each planet, as seen in these color images.
