The Austin College Center for Southwestern & Mexican Studies awards summer internships each year to a number of students who have an interest in the historical, cultural, social, economic, and political issues between Mexico and the southwestern United States—and Texas in particular.
On October 22, the 2019 interns made presentations to faculty and fellow students about their summer experiences. Students and their internship sites follow:

Internships at The Sherman Museum and the Sam Rayburn Museum are filled each summer. The other internship sites may be proposed by the interns and approved by the center director. Students must devote June 1 through July 30 to the internship with no other employment or coursework commitments in that period. See more information on internship availability.
Internships were made possible with grants from the Summerfield G. Roberts Foundation of Dallas, the U.S. Department of Education, and the following Austin College endowed funds: The Joe R. & Theresa Lozano Long Endowed Internship in Southwestern and Mexican Studies, The Joe K. and Beth Abercrombie Bailey Endowed Internship in Southwest and Mexican Studies, The Erwin E. Smith Endowed Internship for The Sherman Museum, and Edward Hake Phillips Endowed Internship.
